Chekhov. Reflection. Premier of a new ballet.
On February 10 and 11, 2022, the premiere of the ballet “Chekhov. Reflections” took place on the stage of the Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theater. The author of the play is Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Uralsky. The performance, set to the music of two works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Memories of Florence and Serenade, vibrantly and joyfully came to life on the theater stage, arousing the attention and delight of the audience.
“Chekhov. Reflections" is a choreographic reflection on female images in the works of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. Despite all the dissimilarity of his literary heroines, they are connected by the invisible threads of the destinies of women in society at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. The main characters of the ballet are five heroines from various Chekhov works endowed with a deep inner world. This is Anna Sergeevna, from the story “The Lady with the Dog”, sisters Irina, Olga and Maria, from the play “Three Sisters” and Nina Zarechnaya, from “The Seagull”. Their relationships with other characters, experiences, dreams and desires in collision with the reality of the world around them form choreographic scenes of the ballet.
The atmosphere of the Chekhov era on stage is created by production designer Alina Yakovleva.
Conductor is Danila Serganin
